It’s easy enough for a child to learn to spend money. A DCTFCU share account can help them learn to save and manage it wisely. Our youth members can make deposits and withdrawals, and earn dividends, the same as any other Regular Share Account holder.
Ordinarily, an initial deposit of at least $50, plus a $5 membership fee is required to become a DCTFCU member. For those under 18, however, there’s no fee and the minimum deposit is a “kid-friendly” $5. Youth members have until age 18 to increase their balance to the minimum balance requirement of $50.
By opening a Youth Account for your young one, you are giving the gift of credit union membership! Opening a Youth Account constitutes establishing D.C. Teachers’ Federal Credit Union membership. Once a member, the benefits of credit union membership are available for life!
